Iris’ Famous Italian Spaghetti

My nieces and nephews all have this recipe and "going to aunt Iris' house" linked in their mind forever. I made a lot of this when the kids were little, less now but it's still a favorite. Read the article on frying hamburger to understand the water in the hamburger cooking process.

1 pound ground lean hamburger
3 mild Italian sausages or ½ -1 pound bulk
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 tbsp. minced garlic
3 tbsp. dried basil
3 tbsp. Italian Seasoning
1 tsp ground white pepper
2 tsp. kosher sea salt
2 large can tomato sauce

In a 2 quart saucepan, cook onion, ground hamburger and Italian sausage together with ½ of the spices and 2 cups of water until browned (and water has evaporated) in a 2 quart saucepan, breaking up into small chunks and draining off any fat if necessary when done.  Add the rest of the spices and the two cans tomato sauce, heating on medium heat until hot, then turn to low and simmer 30 minutes. Serve over Spaghetti pasta with salad and warm garlic bread.
